چکیده

This study presents results for the estimation of impinging waves’ delay, azimuth, elevation and complex amplitude in synthetic and real time-invariant mobile radio environments, using the Space-Alternating Generalized Expectation-Maximization (SAGE) algorithm. The minimum separation between two waves needed to obtain acceptable estimations is investigated in some particular cases. Experimental results on real channels are shown and compared with simulations performed by a ray-tracing method. Conclusions about the performance of the algorithm are presented.

Estimation of the Radio Channel Parameters using the SAGE Algorithm

This paper presents the problem of estimating the parameters of a given number of superimposed signals, as is the case of the received signal in wireless communications. Based on the description of the received signal in the frequency domain, one version of the SAGE (Space-Alternating Generalized ExpectationMaximization) algorithm is presented, allowing the estimation, for each impinging ray, t...

Comparison between Unitary Esprit and Sage for 3-d Channel Sounding

The detailed knowledge of the directional characteristics of the mobile radio channel is required to develop directional channel models and to design efficient smart antenna concepts for future mobile radio systems. In this paper, we examine the applicability and performance of two popular high-resolution parameter estimation schemes for directional channel sounding, namely subspace-based Unita...

Large-scale Inversion of Magnetic Data Using Golub-Kahan Bidiagonalization with Truncated Generalized Cross Validation for Regularization Parameter Estimation

In this paper a fast method for large-scale sparse inversion of magnetic data is considered. The L1-norm stabilizer is used to generate models with sharp and distinct interfaces. To deal with the non-linearity introduced by the L1-norm, a model-space iteratively reweighted least squares algorithm is used. The original model matrix is factorized using the Golub-Kahan bidiagonalization that proje...

Parameter Estimation of Loranz Chaotic Dynamic System Using Bees Algorithm

An important problem in nonlinear science is the unknown parameters estimation in Loranz chaotic system. Clearly, the parameter estimation for chaotic systems is a multidimensional continuous optimization problem, where the optimization goal is to minimize mean squared errors (MSEs) between real and estimated responses for a number of given samples. The Bees algorithm (BA) is a new member of me...

Joint detection-estimation of directional channel parameters using the 2-D frequency domain SAGE algorithm with serial interference cancellation

In this paper, the serial interference cancellation (SIC) technique and the frequency domain SAGE (FD-SAGE) algorithm are jointly used to detect and estimate the radio channel parameters of interest. The implementation of the SAGE algorithm in the frequency domain is novel. Furthermore, the parallel interference cancellation (PIC) technique in the standard SAGE algorithm is replaced by the SIC ...
